The project aims at:
1. Creating and improving awareness on prevention and management of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
2. Developing a model plan for schools for intervention for primary prevention of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
3. Creating awareness about diabetes among parents and teachers of the targeted students and improving prevention and management of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases among them.
4. Creating awareness about the harms of smoking, drug abuse and alcohol consumption among adults.
5. Estimation of fasting blood sugar and total cholesterol among students, parents and teachers.
6. Creating awareness about lifestyle modification among students, parents and teachers.
7. Conducting free medical camps and awareness classes for the general public with the cooperation of local self governments.
8. Conducting training camps for nurses, paramedical staff and health workers for creating awareness about detection and management of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
By the end of the five year project period:
Health promotion will be conducted in 865 public upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the districts of pathanamthitta and alappuzha in kerala state.
2, 60,000 students will be reached through awareness classes and medical camps.

2, 00,000 parents and 5000 teachers will be reached through awareness classes and medical camps with prevention messages

1400 teachers will be trained on diabetes symptoms, risk factors and management.

100 volunteers will be trained on diabetes detection, management and prevention

The message of the project will reach about 10 lakhs people of the districts of pathanamthitta and alappuzha in kerala state.
