Im 30 year 0ld male. Recently l checked my blood glucose level.my fpg and ppg was 124&130. My height is 5.5 feet and weight is 86 kg.Currently lm not taking any medicine. Should l take medicine ?
Aneesh Kumar Thiruvalla Pathanamthitta
Your FBS value shows that you are in prediabetic stage. But your PPBS is normal. At this stage there is no need of taking medicine but have to modify your lifestyle. Body weight required for your height is between 60 to 65kg. try to reduceweight to normal range and maintain it. Find time to do excercise(atleast 30 min a day). increase physical activity in your day to day life. eat 3 meals a day, avoid bakery foods and fried items. give more space to vegetables in your plate.give priority to homley foods than having foods from restaurants. reduce stress by involving in activites that give satisfaction.By modifying your lifestyle you can prevent the progression to diabetes.

The baby born to a diabetic mother need not be diabetic in future. In future the baby has risk for diabetes because of family history of diabetes. But those who are risk for diabetes can prevent it through lifestyle or bahaviour modification. In the question its is not made clear that whether its geatational diabetes or you were having diabetes befor your pregnency.

I am a diabetic patient since last 15 years and has my present FBS s 300 dl and PPBS is 420. Presently I am using Glucored Forte morning and night (1 each) . This medicine seems no effect and which medicine to use to normalize blood sugar
PRASANNA KUMAR mallappally pathanamthitta
Your blood sugar levels are very high.Treatment of diabetes has to begin with diet modification and regular exercise. If you are already on a diabetic diet and doing regular exercise for half an hour and still the blood sugar values are high you have to modify the medications you are taking. It will be advisable to consult a doctor before changing the medications. You can increase the dose of glucored forte to 1 tablet thrice daily. If it is still not controlled,it will be better to start injection insulin since you are diabetic for more than fifteen years. For that also you have to get the opinion from a physician.
my brothers blood sugar is 210 while fasting.what are the steps to be taken?is it very dangerous?he has central obesity and always like something to eat
leena as vembayam trivandrum
Assuming that your brother is checking his blood sugar for the first time,Fasting blood sugar of 210 makes him a diabetic.Diabetes is not a dangerous disease. It can be controlled with diet modification, regular exercise, mental stress management and drugs,if necessary. If your brother does not have much symptoms,he can begin the treatment with diet modification and regular exercise for a period of two weeks and recheck the blood sugar. For proper advice on diet modification he has to consult a physician/dietition.Regular exercise will help to reduce the central obeisity also.If the blood sugar is not controlled even after proper diet modification,he will have to take drugs for the controll of diabetes. He will have to do other basic investigations like PPBS,HBa1C,S.Cholesterol,S.Creatinine and an eye check up.
